Astronomers Reveals A Map Of The Universe

VIVAnews --have you ever imagine what that picture of the universe? This may be too complex. However, astronomers United Kingdom managed to make a breakthrough: map of the universe in three dimensions.

Are scientists from the University of Portsmouth, who made the map of 2MASS Redshift Survey (2MRS) that covers a distance of 380 million light years, 45,000 Galaxy neighbor. To know the diameter of the Milky Way galaxy alone over 100,000 million light years.

This is the map of the universe of three dimensions to the most recent and complete--uncovering the latest details about our position in the universe.

"I spoke of the desire of all of us to understand our place in the universe," said Karen Masters from the University of Portsmouth, as FOXnewsloaded, may 25, 2011. But the job is still long. "I will not be excited if we do not have a complete map of the Earth. (Similarly with maps of the universe), it would be nice if we had complete. "

This latest map using data from the Two-Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) Redshift Survey (2MRS) which takes 10 years to scan the night sky, complete with near-infrared light. The survey uses two telescopes in Observatory Fred Lawrence Whipple, at Mount Hopkins, Arizona and Cerro Tololo inter-American Observatory in Chile.

The survey also mapped out in detail the areas that were previously hidden behind the Milky Way Galaxy to better understand the influence of their movement to other parts of the universe. (umi)

Astronomers Find Alien Planet much like Earth in 86

VIVAnews -search for signs of alien life on Earth began similar planet of 86. The Mission of the search is done it is part of the project SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) which launched the mid-1980s.

The search is made possible with the help of the Green Bank Telescope, a giant-sized radio telescope mounted in a remote area in West Virginia, United States.

A giant parabolic would face to every 86 planet filtered total 1235 potentially save the lives of the planet, which is identified by the Kepler Space Telescope courtesy of NASA. Each planet is observed for 24 hours to get its data.

"We cannot ensure that all the stars that are found have a planetary system that can be populated, but the stars is the best place to find life on another space," said Andrew Siemion, researchers from the University of California at Berkeley, as quoted from Cosmosmagazine, May 16, 2011.

Last month, the SETI Institute announced that they would close their important efforts in the search for alien-i.e. a project worth 50 million US dollars, consisting of 42 parabolic telescope known as the Allen Telescope Array-due to lack of funds amounting to 5 million US dollars.

With the suspension of the parabola ATA, astronomers hope that the Green Bank Telescope advanced was encountered when the storm occurred in 1988 and will provide specific information about a planet that can potentially support life.

Green Bank telescope surface measuring 100 times 110 meters to record the data up to almost 1 GB per second. A 7.7 million pounds of telescopes which began operating in 2000 it was a project developed by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.

And Werthimer, physicist who is also involved in the study mentions, it chose the planets which have specific temperature between 0 to 100 degrees Celsius. The reason is because the planet experience is more potentially save a life.

Werthimer himself has led the project SETI was already 3 decades of Puerto Rico, where the Arecibo radio telescope, the largest in the world are. Nevertheless, Werthimer said, the project was not able to observe the sky North of which is the same as observed by telescope Green Bank.

"With Arecibo, our focus is monitoring the star similar to our Sun. The expectation is they have the planet around which emits the signal intelligence, "said Werthimer. "Nevertheless, we have never had a list of the planet like this before," he said.

Green Bank Telescope, said Werthimer, able to scan the frequency range up to 300 times the ability of Arecibo. That is, in one day he can collect the data with the same amount by the Arecibo within one year.

Researchers estimate, this will likely search project takes one year. In its implementation, the project will also be assisted by about 1 million people-based astronomer incorporated in SETI@home who helped process data obtained using their personal computers.
